The initiative, in association with Dubai Cares, is part of the \u2018Adopt a School\u2019 program that focuses on enriching the lives of children in developing countries by providing access to quality primary education. An official cheque handover ceremony was held at Repton in the presence of the pupils, David Cook, Headmaster; Michaela Barber, Head of Junior School; Holly Tighe, Student Council Coordinator of Repton and His Excellency Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares.<\/p>\n<p>Through this initiative, we will fund the construction of a two-classroom community-based school in Senegal, providing education for 60 children during the day and 60 adults in the evening in a rural community. Pupils from the Junior School\u2019s Student Council along with parents have independently raised a generous amount of AED 142,000 through various fundraising events such as national day stall, winter fayre, Emirati Children\u2019s Day and a \u2018dirham makes a difference\u2019 campaign. A team of 15 people from the Repton community will also be travelling to Senegal in October 2019 to begin building the foundations of the project\u2019s first phase.<\/p>\n<p>His Excellency Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer at Dubai Cares said: \u201cWe are grateful to Repton School for its generous contribution and commitment to Dubai Cares. I had the privilege to visit the school and interact with the students and witness their clarity of thought and energy, which I highly appreciate and admire. It&#8217;s obvious that they feel very committed towards supporting children and young people in other parts of the world who face challenges that stand in their way to have access to quality education.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Our Headmaster David Cook commented: \u201cWe are delighted to join hands with Dubai Cares on their noble mission of making education accessible to the underprivileged communities in Senegal.
